Imagine your sister heading to work like any normal day, and then suddenly she’s gone. That nightmare became real for one family as shared by Onoja_cee in Abuja this week, and the story of how she made it out alive is equal parts terrifying and beautiful.

The young woman, an intern at the EFCC headquarters, got into a cab in Gwarimpa for what she thought was a regular commute. Moments later, she was sprayed with something that knocked her out. When she came to, she was in a forest, surrounded by signs of terrible things that had happened to others before her.
For hours she waited, hearing cries in the distance and knowing she was next. But then something incredible happened. The person sent to harm her picked up her ID card, saw the family name, and froze. Years earlier, the victim’s mother had been this woman’s matron in school and had shown her extraordinary kindness. That memory hit hard. Instead of carrying out the plan, the woman chose to help her escape and even sent an urgent message for help, risking everything.
