A family in Agbarha-Otor, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, is grieving after three of their children were found drowned in an abandoned fish pond in Saniko Community.

The children were Great Anthony Ikpera, 6; Goodluck Anthony Ikpera, 8; and Vwegba Jite Ikpera, 12. They belonged to the Ikpera family of Awirhe Community, Agbarha-Otor.
Their parents declared them missing on Saturday, and a search went on into Sunday.
On Sunday morning, the children’s bodies were found floating in the pond, according to the President of the Agbarha Youth Council, Rufus Ovotu, and a family member who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity.
The pond sits beside a flowing stream behind the community. How the children came to be in the water has not been independently established.
The sources said the bodies were recovered and buried beside the stream.
The loss has plunged the community into mourning, with sympathisers visiting the bereaved family to offer their condolences.
Ovotu urged parents to pay close attention to their children’s movements and keep them away from streams and other potentially dangerous water bodies, particularly as water levels remain high.
