The Delta State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the death of a young woman allegedly killed by her boyfriend in Edjeba Community, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the suspect’s residence on Ajidi Street in the Edjeba area.
Residents said the suspect and the deceased had been in a romantic relationship for some time, with the woman known to be a frequent visitor to the apartment.
According to accounts from the community, the landlord was awakened by distressing screams coming from the suspect’s apartment during the early hours of Tuesday.
Alarmed by the cries, he reportedly alerted security operatives, who responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, police officers allegedly searched the apartment and discovered the lifeless body of the woman bearing severe injuries.
The body was subsequently evacuated and deposited in a mortuary for preservation and possible autopsy, while the suspect was arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the Delta State Police Command, CSP Bright Edafe, said investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and determine any criminal liability.
"It's confirmed. As for the claim that he is involved in internet fraud, I am not aware of that,” Edafe added.
The police spokesperson did not provide further details on the identity of either the suspect or the deceased.
Authorities have urged members of the public to avoid speculation and allow investigators to complete their work.
As of the latest update, the suspect remained in police custody while detectives continued their investigation into the case.
