Bello Matawalle, the former Zamfara State Governor and current Minister of State for Defence, experienced one of life's most joyful moments as a father on Friday, February 6, 2026, giving out ten of his children in marriage during a grand wedding fatiha conducted at the National Mosque in Abuja.

The ceremony, steeped in Islamic traditions, united five daughters - Maryam, Safiyya, Farida, Nana Firdausi, and Aisha with their grooms, and five sons - Ibrahim, Abdul Jalal, Surajo, Bello, and Fahad with their brides.
Among the notable grooms were former Zamfara State House of Assembly Speaker Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya and National Agricultural Insurance Corporation Director General Yazid Danfulani.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu honored the family by acting as the father of the brides (Waliyi), formally receiving them into the Matawalle household on behalf of the parents.
The wedding was officiated by prominent Islamic scholar Sheikh Dr. Abdullahi Bala Lau, National Chairman of Jama’atu Izalatul Bidi’ah wa Ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS).
In attendance were President Carlos Manuel Vila Nova of São Tomé and Príncipe, governors including Yusuf Abba Kabir of Kano, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, and Uba Sani of Kaduna, as well as former and serving ministers, lawmakers, diplomats, traditional rulers, service chiefs, and well-wishers from diverse backgrounds.
