Katsina Police Hand Over N28m to Families of 25 Officers K!lled on Duty

For 25 families in Katsina State, Tuesday brought a small measure of comfort after loss, as the police command handed over cheques totalling N28.01m to relatives of officers who died in the line of duty.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alkasim Salisu thanked police leadership for the gesture. "We are grateful to the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police for this kind gesture. We assure you that the money will be used judiciously," he said.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage, presented the cheques at the Conference Hall of the Command Headquarters in Katsina, as part of a welfare package initiated by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for the families of officers who paid the supreme price in service to the nation.

According to the command, the cheques came to N28,012,584.70, shared among the 25 beneficiary families.

Addressing the families, Fage offered condolences and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased officers.

He described the fallen personnel as "gallant men who served the nation with dedication," stressing that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.

He urged the families to use the money wisely to meet their immediate needs and secure their future.

Fage also commended the Inspector-General for his attention to the welfare of both serving officers and the families left behind. "I appreciate the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for his commitment to officers' welfare and for ensuring that the sacrifices of our fallen heroes are not forgotten," Fage said.

The command said the gesture reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of serving personnel and the families of officers who lost their lives in the course of duty.
