In the bustling streets where survival often means long hours under the sun, 19-year-old Samuel Adeniyi was once known simply as the boy who picked plastic bottles to help his single mother put food on the table. But a recent encounter with content creator and brand influencer Adebayo changed everything for Samuel, his mother, and their household proving that one moment of visibility and compassion can ignite a wave of generosity.
The story began when Adebayo met Samuel and his mother, learning about their daily battles. In a candid conversation captured on video, Adebayo gently asked about Samuel’s future.
Adebayo - “How about Samuel’s freedom?”
Samuel’s Mother – “The Oga told me about the freedom today.”
Adebayo – “Do you like to go to school?”
Samuel – “Yes”
Adebayo – “How brilliant is Samuel in school?”
Samuel’s Mother – “He is very brilliant”
When Adebayo inquired about the family’s challenges, the mother opened up about their hardships, including the absence of the father.
Samuel – “I can’t say anything about my dad. He has not been with us since....”
She shared how she had kept the family going through sheer determination. Samuel’s Mother – “By God. I have done menial jobs like been a labourer at building sites, washing of clothes, sweeping places, selling pure water – that’s what I’m doing at the moment.”
She explained the collapse of her small oil business due to overwhelming responsibilities as the sole provider.
Adebayo – “What happened to the oil business?”
Samuel’s Mother – “Long story because it’s only me – too much responsibility. During December, I cried to God because we had nothing. To drink Garri was impossible. Me and my children we had nothing. It was this woman (points to a woman behind her) gave me food on 25th and New Year. I praised God (but) I asked Him ‘God why did you leave me like this?’ and God told him that I should just be looking. I prayed that if God do this thing for me – my shop and make me be ok – I will praise God and my children.”
Adebayo treated the family to a meal at an eatery and asked the key question that would unlock more blessings. Adebayo – "How much do you need to start your market (business)?"
Samuel’s Mother – "Like NGN 200,000 or NGN 300,000."
What followed was a surprise that left them speechless: Adebayo presented her with ₦1,000,000 in cash to revive her cooking oil business. Samuel’s excitement was so overwhelming that Adebayo had to hold him steady to keep him safe in his joy.
But the generosity didn’t stop there. Adebayo took them to a shopping mall, telling the mother:
Adebayo – “I want you to go around and pick and food stuff you want. You have no time limit. Make sure you pack plenty things.”
Outside the mall came the life-altering news: ₦7.050 million had been donated by kind-hearted people moved by the family’s story. Then, facing Samuel directly, Adebayo offered the dream every mother holds for her child. Adebayo – “So you can face back now. NGN 7.050 Million has been donated for you both. I have another surprise for you. (Facing Samuel) Will you like to further your education?”
Samuel – “Yes.”
Adebayo revealed a full scholarship for Samuel from secondary school through university along with an donation ₦8,007,000 in donated funds shown right from his account balance for the family’s support.
Overcome with emotion, Samuel’s mother poured out heartfelt prayers and blessings.
Samuel’s Mother – “Thank God for everyone unknown to me that bless me and my household because a lot of people reach out to me from abroad yesterday since you posted us, even throughout the night, I couldn’t sleep. (Prays for Adebayo) The one that God used to lift me and my household up. I was nobody now I am this known. Now I decree unto you for you have brought me out of darkness and unknown, you will surprised divinely. Till you die, you will know no penury (poverty). You will enter new level and you’ll call me to testify. So shall it be yours by the Holy Spirit.”
