A Nigerian woman who goes by the name Nikki has broken her silence on one of the most painful chapters of her life, sharing photographs of her battered face and swollen lips as evidence of a marriage she now describes as an encounter with evil in human form.
The mother turned to social media, saying she had woken up that morning to find the memories rushing back without warning.
Her face showed the unmistakable marks of bruising, swelling, and the visible evidence of a woman who had endured a home that was supposed to be her safe place.
Her words, ‘So I woke up this morning and marriage memories flashed in my mind and tears rolled down my eyes,’ she wrote.
‘Remembering the words that said that the devil came to kill, steal and destroy,’ she wrote.
‘Thoroughly I have encountered the devil wearing human clothes,’ she declared.
Rather than ending her post in grief or in anger, she signed off, ‘Then I said to myself, to marry tuah — marriage I pour u early morning yellow ukwara puuaaaaaaaa.’
