At a busy 24 Hour Fitness near Houston, what started as a regular workout took a scary turn last week when Aralyn Martinez, 24, recognized another woman, Cindy Aguilar, as someone connected to her partner.
Overcome with jealousy, Martinez yelled a threat and then threw a 25 pound weight plate toward Aguilar’s head. Police arrived soon after and arrested Martinez the next day. She now faces a serious charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The judge noted that alcohol might have played a role and set clear rules for her release on bond: no alcohol at all, not even in food or medicine, no marijuana, no weapons, and she must stay far away from both the victim and that gym location.
