The victim's father brought the case to the police. Bukar Tamba, of Maduri Ward in Damaturu, went to the 'B' Divisional Headquarters in the town to report that his son had been stabbed.

The Yobe State Police Command has since arrested a 13-year-old boy over the death of 19-year-old Adamu Bukar Tamba.
The command's spokesperson, ASP Yusuf Adamu Aliyu, said the incident happened on September 10, 2026, after an argument between the teenager, named Umar Suleiman, and the victim. Both are listed at the same address.
‘On 10th September 2026, one Bukar Tamba 'M' of Maduri Ward, Damaturu, reported at the 'B' Divisional Headquarters, Damaturu, that his son, one Adamu Bukar Tamba 'M' 19 yrs of the same address, had been stabbed with a knife by one Umar Suleiman 'M' 13yrs of the same address,' the police statement read.
According to ASP Aliyu, officers went to the scene as soon as the report came in.
‘Upon receipt of the report, detectives attached to the Division immediately mobilised to the scene, where they found the victim in a pool of blood,' the statement said.
The 19-year-old was taken to hospital, but did not survive.
‘He was promptly evacuated to the Specialist Hospital, Damaturu, for medical attention,' the police said. ‘However, while receiving treatment, he was confirmed dead by the attending medical doctor.’
The police said the 13-year-old is being held. ‘The suspect was arrested and is currently in Police custody,' the statement said. ‘Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident occurred during an argument between the two.’
The command added: ‘Investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law.’
