A family in Rinjin Gura village, in the Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, is now grieving the loss of 25-year-old Hassan Mohamed, who died after being shot by a neighbour on Monday.

The suspect, also 25 and identified as Jabir Yusuf, allegedly fired a Dane gun that struck Mohamed in the neck, inflicting injuries that would prove fatal.
The tragedy unfolded in the Zalau Ward area when a resident alerted the Rishi Divisional Police Station about the shooting.
Officers from the Gumau Division rushed to the scene and hurried Mohamed to Toro General Hospital, hoping to save him.
But doctors on duty pronounced him dead shortly after arrival, dashing any hope his family may have held.
With the young man's death confirmed, his body was handed over to his relatives so they could lay him to rest according to their faith.
Bauchi State Police Command spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, in a statement issued on Tuesday, gave an account of how the case has progressed since the killing.
‘The corpse was profiled and released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites. The suspect has been apprehended, and the Dane gun recovered as exhibit. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for discreet investigation and possible prosecution,’ the statement said.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has since ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
He also used the opportunity to caution members of the public against the illegal possession and reckless use of firearms, warning that anyone caught violating the law would face the full consequences.
