Scientists Suggest where A Child Should Inherit Intelligence From
At a time when gender discussions are on the agenda, studies report that children’s intelligence comes from their mothers. The theme that is new – in the research of scientists around the world – arrives with a certain controversy, since we still live in a macho society.
However, it has already been proven that the genes of a child’s intelligence come from the mother and not from the father. Likewise, there are genes that are only active if they have had input from the father.

Conditioned Genes – What are they?
Genes called conditional are those that have different behaviors if they come from the genetic load of the mother or father. Basically some genes only become active in the child if they have come from the mother or vice versa.
As far as cognitive abilities are concerned, the genes that matter are those of the mother. This makes it clear that the father’s intelligence genes are not relevant to the child.
Genetic dominance of mothers in children’s intelligence is due to the fact that genes for cognitive abilities are located on the X chromosome.
Studies that have reached this conclusion
As we have already explained, this is not a recent topic for science, in 1984 there was already a team from Cambridge University developing a study that came to this conclusion.
In this study a team performed an analysis of genetic and biochemical components present in the brain.
It was observed that most of the structures that make it possible to articulate thoughts and mental operations had come from the mother.
Proportion of body and head size
The embryos that possessed the maternal genes developed a very large brain and a small body while the embryos that had the paternal genes developed larger body and small head.
From the moment that the scientists were able to discover which were the maternal cells and which were the paternal cells they were able to understand where each type was concentrated in the brain.
The cerebral cortex (which has cognitive structures to make decisions, develop language and intelligence) was dominated only by the mother’s cells.
No parent cell was observed in this region. Observing that the genes for intelligence are on the X chromosome it is natural to say that women are twice as likely to inherit these genes as men who have only one X chromosome.
Mother’s role goes beyond genes
Scientists are categorical in stating that mothers have a crucial role in their children’s intelligence – and not just in gene transmission.
Creation near the mother helps children develop self-confidence, and the sentimental bond with the parent favors cognitive abilities.
Having a stable relationship with the mother gives the children a healthy sentimental base as well as the confidence to become smarter.
Not all intelligence is an inheritance.
As scientists warn, 45 to 55 percent of an individual’s intelligence is in their genes and the other half must be developed.
Another essential point is that intelligence refers not only to rational thinking, but also to emotional capacities, some of which are the contributions of the father.
It is also good to know that one should not only focus on a person’s IQ to know how intelligent he is, because the problem-solving capacity of the human being is stimulated and developed every day in the face of life situations.
