A 27-year-old Chicago woman, Julia Martin, has been stabbed to death by her ex-fiance after attempting to return her engagement ring.
Miss Martin, and her boyfriend, Rodney Harvey, courted for three years but broke up six months prior her death. Due to the failed relationship, she made a call on Harvey in order to return the engagement ring he gave her.
However, this call did not go well with Harvey who decided to pay a visit to Martin with a bad intention.
Harvey arrived Julia’s apartment, forced his way in and stabbed Julia severally. At a point when he believed she had died, he jumped out of her apartment, but to his own death.

Julia who bled profusely from the stab put a call through to 911 and her father, Derrick Martin to tell him what had happened.
Speaking about her daughter’s assailant, Derrick Martin said about Rodney:
“There was no indication he was dangerous.
“I never would’ve thought that in a million years.”
Derrick Martin said he was aware of his daughter‘s intention of returning the ring to Harvey, he, however, wasn’t informed of details about the breakup. He added:

“She was telling me that they broke it off and that she was planning on giving the ring back.”
Mr Martin had described his daughter to be ambitious, adventurous and a career focused lady. Her death though came shocking and untimely to the family.
Mr. Martin also revealed that he had lost his wife, both parents, and brother in the recent years.
Julia is survived by her father, sister and a young nephew.
