The Honourable member of the House of representative representing Kazaure/Roni/Gwiwa/Yankwashi Constituency, Hon. Gudaji Kazaure of Katsina state has spoken on a controversial issue which has gotten quite some number of Nigerians to raise their eyebrows at what has been referred to as a controversial family issue.
In his speech at the floor of the house, Honourable Kazaure said.
“Telling a Muslim to do family planning, is telling him to violate his religion; because there’s no planning in Islam”.
The speech whose video has already gotten a lot of attention for itself online has caused Nigerians to react at the fact that family planning should be allowed even after the Federal Government has led several sensitization exercises about it.

In a recent online publication on September 9th 2017, the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Director of Family planning at the Federal Ministry of Health has said it is set to achieve its goals of decreasing maternal and infant morbidity and mortality rate by ensuring that about 7.3 million women have access to family planning in the country.
In the publication archived on Vanguard, the Director, Family Health Planning, Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), Dr Abebimpe Adebiyi, said the campaign was launched to close the contraceptive gap in Nigeria.
Family planning has become important in Nigeria because it is an initiative launched in a bid to delay, space or limit future pregnancies. It also gives couples the ability to choose the number and space births of their children, causing healthy spacing of pregnancies and increasing healthy outcomes for mother and baby.
Meanwhile, following Honourable Kazaure’s speech, here are reactions by some online users in Nigeria;

Because VAT from the ogogoro you outlawed will be sent down there, as well as the oyel, so if you like give birth to China and force them to fight restructuring from everywhere.
Until we begin to talk about growth and development and take religion and ethnicity behind, we will continue to think more about post and pre-conflict areas.
One Salam Rushdie said – Anybody that believes northerners will slow down their rate of reckless childbirth soon is a joker, rapid childbirth and overpopulation are critical to the survival and expansion of Islam as a religion and I advise Christians to adopt same too
A user simply identified as gist says – I am not an expert in religious books, but I am sure God wiser than proscribing family planning. We men just like to use religion to suit us.
For example, what I know the Quran says is that “do not kill your children because of fear of poverty” How does this translate to do not do family planning. That verse is to me another warning against murder.
These same men will be the one making excuses for female Circumcision saying it will make them less wayward. And that is why it has not been fully eradicated.
Ameemu says – I totally disagree with him, I am a muslim but I believed jurisprudence did not say child spacing or planing is not good. he should back it up not just use his intuition to talk.
