This conversation keeps coming up in many homes. Some parents believe they know what is best. They know the struggle of unemployment. They understand how tough the economy is. So when they insist on medicine, law, engineering or accounting, they believe they are securing their child’s future. But is security the same as fulfillment? Many young people today feel suffocated by decisions that were made for them. They have dreams in tech, fashion, media, sports, business, creative arts and more. Some say being forced into a “safe” career has left them unhappy, frustrated or even resentful. At the same time, some argue that children do not always see the bigger picture. Passion alone does not pay bills. Experience matters. Guidance matters. Structure matters. So where should the line be drawn?
