A couple has been found dead by one of their sons in their apartment in Benin city, Edo state.
They were reported to have been killed allegedly by fumes from the generator that was placed in the corridor of their room.
The couple, Imafidon Ototie and his wife who were reported to have died on Monday resided at Ototie Street, off Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.
One of their sons Bright who did not sleep at home that day discovered the tragedy that occurred after which he raised an alarm when he discovered his parents were still asleep.

He said: “It was like a spirit told me not to sleep at home that night which made me go to my friend’s place. I had been telling them to put off the generator but, they did not listen to me. It was like a spirit told me to leave the house and I left. I came back and saw their door locked, so I raised the alarm.”
Another son of the deceased couple who was reportedly affected also by the fumes was rushed to the hospital for medical attention. The remains of the couple have been deposited at the mortuary.

Blessing, the eldest daughter of the deceased couple said she had given her parent warnings severally to always put off the generator before going to sleep.
