In the bustling Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park in Yola, hope turned to horror for three teenage girls on February 17, 2026, when operatives from the Adamawa State Police Command's State Intelligence Department, acting on credible intelligence, swooped in to rescue Naomi Linus, 14, Agnes Thomas, 16, and Patience Justine, 15.

The minors had been deceitfully transported to Yola under the guise of securing menial domestic jobs in Abuja.
Command spokesman SP Suleiman Nguroje revealed in a statement on Wednesday.
'On 17th February, 2026, the operatives of the Command attached to State Intelligence Department (SID), acting on credible intelligence, intercepted three teenagers at Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park. The teenagers were identified as Naomi Linus (14 years), Agnes Thomas (16 years), and Patience Justine (15 years).'
He added, 'reliminary investigation revealed that the minors were deceitfully brought to Yola and were in the process of being transported to Abuja under the pretext of securing employment for menial domestic work.'
The suspects, Hasiya Yuguda, 35, from NEPA area in Jimeta, Yola North, and Ummulkhairi Abubakar, 40, from Wuro-Hausa in Yola South, now face charges of child trafficking.
Investigations further implicated Simon Boniface, 38, from Bitakoyali in Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State, who is assisting police.
Nguroje confirmed, 'Further investigation also implicated one Simon Boniface, 38 years from Bitakoyali, Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State. He is currently assisting the Police in the ongoing investigation.'
The rescued girls, shaken but safe, remain in protective custody as authorities work to reunite them with their families.
This timely intervention highlights the predatory tactics of traffickers who exploit young dreams with false promises of employment, often leading to forced labor, domestic servitude, or worse.
Commissioner of Police Morris Dankwambo emphasized zero tolerance for such crimes, urging vigilance.
He stated, 'Members of the public are encouraged to promptly report suspicious movements or activities involving minors to the nearest Police station.'
