Media personality, Toke Makinwa, has offered her thoughts on what women should look for in a life partner, urging them to prioritise emotional maturity and empathy over superficial qualities.
In a post shared on her Instagram Story, Makinwa advised women to choose a man who reaches out after an argument to check on them, rather than one who withdraws and leaves them to process the pain alone.
She said the right partner is one who leans in during difficult moments, seeking to understand rather than to win.
‘Choose the man who stays when things get hard and wants to understand you, not defeat you,’ she wrote.
Makinwa added that a man's willingness to set aside his pride in the interest of the relationship is one of the clearest signs of a worthy partner.
‘A man who can pause, hold you and say, 'I'm sorry' because your relationship matters more to him than his ego,’ she said.
