A Rhode Island teenager has turned tragedy into triumph, after scoring a dramatic game-winning goal, just weeks after his father carried out a deadly shooting that tore his family apart.

High school hockey captain, Colin Dorgan, fired home a stunning double-overtime goal on Wednesday night, sending his team to the Division II state championship.
The teenager wore a special patch on his jersey bearing the initials of his slain loved ones, as he took to the ice, a tribute to the family members.
The tragedy unfolded on 16 February at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, where police say Colin’s father, Robert Dorgan, opened fire during a youth hockey game.
The gunman fatally shot his ex-wife, Rhonda Dorgan, and their 23-year-old son, Aidan Dorgan, while also wounding other relatives before turning the gun on himself, authorities said.
Despite the devastating loss, Colin returned to the ice with determination.
After scoring the decisive goal with less than a minute left in overtime, the teenager was mobbed by teammates.
Overcome with emotion, he later described the victory as “the greatest moment” of his life, a tribute to the family he lost.
