A story shared by Damaris K Ernest has drawn attention online after highlighting a moment of temptation faced by Pastor W F Kumuyi during one of his ministry trips.

During one such trip, the couple checked into the hotel arranged for their stay. Shortly after settling in, the hotel telephone rang. A voice on the line welcomed him and asked whether he needed anything to make his stay comfortable. He politely declined.
Moments later, the phone rang again. This time, the caller referred to cards that had been slipped under the door. The cards used subtle language, suggesting services for relaxation or assistance if one was feeling tired or unwell. At first, the wording was not direct.
When Pastor Kumuyi asked them to be plain, the offer became clearer. He was told that girls were available for him.
The cleric immediately rejected the offer, stating firmly that he is a Christian and a preacher. He then ended the call. When his wife returned to the room, he informed her about what had happened and reiterated why he always insists that she travels with him.
He reportedly said that having his wife with him serves as a form of protection and accountability. In his words, if a man intends to continue in ministry for a long time, he must build boundaries around himself. He described his wife as a fence that preserves his life and calling.
The story has sparked conversations about the pressures and temptations faced by religious leaders, especially those who travel frequently. Many online users have commended the pastor’s decision to maintain strict personal boundaries, emphasizing the importance of accountability and moral discipline in leadership.
