In a recent interview on Naija FM Lagos, the 42-year-old star, who was previously married to actor Olakunle 'Abounce' Fawole, with whom she shares a son, opened up about her evolved perspective on relationships and remarriage. Her marriage ended in 2019 after less than two years, an experience that has shaped her current outlook.
Jegede explained that she is not actively pursuing remarriage but remains open to it if it happens naturally. "I am open to remarriage if it comes, but I am not looking for it. I have learnt not to say ‘never’," she said. "I think marriage is overrated."
She pointed to a common pattern she's observed in relationships, noting how long-term dating often gives way to issues once marriage is involved. "I’ve seen so many people date for 15 years, 17 years, and they marry for two years, three years, and then break up. Sometimes you go dey wonder say shebi they for just stay and no marry," Jegede remarked, suggesting that the "marriage tag" introduces unnecessary pressures.

The actress highlighted intolerance as a key factor in marital breakdowns. "A lot of intolerance dey. The wife will be claiming her rights, the husband will do the same," she observed, adding that the formal label of marriage can exacerbate conflicts that were manageable in dating phases.
Instead, Jegede advocated for prioritizing individual joy and practical arrangements in relationships. "Do what makes you happy and what works for you. And if you find the person you like, make una just dey," she advised. In a bolder statement, she suggested cohabitation as a viable alternative: "I think it is better to find who you love and just cohabit with them."
