Veteran Nollywood actor, Adeoye Adewale, better known as Elesho, has opened up about a recent family episode involving his ailing mother and his wife, describing how he navigated the situation while maintaining what he called the established order in his household.
According to the actor, his mother had for some years been managing an eye condition and had been living with her younger sibling, continued to support her financially and otherwise throughout that period, in line with his responsibilities as her son.
He recounted that on the day he visited her, she expressed deep unhappiness with her living arrangement, telling him she would rather be "thrown into the river or sea" than continue staying there, as she no longer felt comfortable.
Moved by her distress, Elesho said he brought her to Lagos as an emergency visitor. However, before introducing her into the home, he said he went upstairs alone to speak with his wife first, leaving his mother waiting in the car.
He said he prostrated before his wife and informed her that he had brought a visitor home, a detail she only later realised referred to his mother, reports Instablog.
When his wife questioned the decision, he explained the full circumstances, including his mother's insistence that she could no longer remain where she had been staying, and noted that there was no alternative arrangement available at the time.
Reflecting on the episode, Elesho said the gesture was rooted in the structure of his household, stating, "My wife is the head of my family." He added that respecting her position was important to him even as he worked to address his mother's welfare.
