In a case of alleged child brutality, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps arrested two Islamic clerics, Adebodun Muideen, 30, of Al-Balaagul-Mubeen Arabic and Islamic Centre, and Oladejo Musiliu, 35, of Abdullah Arabic and Islamic Centre in Owo, Ondo State, on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

The suspects, stand accused of allegedly severely injuring two minors entrusted to them for religious and formal schooling.
Their parents, residing in Osun State, had placed the boys under the clerics' care for Qur'anic studies alongside regular education.
Trouble erupted when one boy returned home with a Vivo Android phone and failed to account for its origin.
During questioning, the second boy was implicated, leading the clerics to allegedly heat a cutlass and apply it to the boys' backs and buttocks, inflicting deep, painful wounds.
A class teacher spotted the multiple injuries and alerted the Kids and Teens Resource Centre, a child rights advocacy group, which reported the matter on Wednesday, as detailed in statements from NSCDC Ondo State Public Relations Officer Daniel Aidamenbor.
Preliminary investigations confirmed the abuse.
'The act is a total violation of the Child Rights Act and the Ondo State Child Protection Law,' the NSCDC statement reads.
Aidamenbor added, 'The suspects had confessed and would be charged to court for assault and child abuse. Acts of violence against children, no matter the justification, constitute criminal offences punishable under Nigerian law.'
