A viral social media post from perfume entrepreneur and CEO Adewale Jana, known as Wale Jana, has thrust a spotlight on the emotional turmoil of prolonged engagements, using the high-profile case of Bimbo Ademoye and VJ Adams as a cautionary tale.

Jana opened his message with a biblical reference from Ruth 3:18: 'Then Naomi said to her, ‘Just be patient, my daughter, until we hear what happens. The man won’t rest until he has settled things today.’'

He said, 'Women decide who they sleep with but you see marriage? Men are the gatekeepers and they are completely ruthless in making their choice. I can’t explain it but when you find the woman you will know and you won’t apologise for it!

'There will also be an urgency in your spirit like fire in your bones you will not rest until you marry that woman! That’s how it is when a man finds the woman he wants to marry.'

Jana highlighted, 'VJ and Bimbo got engaged 4 years ago it was all over the news and since then it’s just been vibes and recently they unfollowed each other and VJ didn’t wish her a happy birthday.

'So when you see a man and woman in their 30s with a good job/ career who can afford to marry but are still stalling just know something is wrong and the fact is the man is not sure!

'That same man can meet another woman and marry under a year! Men don’t take that long to marry the woman they want unless they are not sure.'

Jana shared his own experience to inspire action.

'I got married under a year because my wife asked me this magic question. If he gets angry or defensive that’s not your husband, if he chooses a date congrats you are about to be a Mrs.'

He urged, 'If you are dating a guy that has proposed for over a year or you have been with a guy for at least 2 years tell him ‘Wale Jana said I should ask when we are getting married?’ don’t be shy o!'
