A 44-year-old Nigerian, Moses Ukwai, receives life imprisonment on March 5, 2026, in Banjul High Court after Justice, S.K. Jobarteh, convicted him of raping a seven-year-old girl in April 2025, ending a painful ordeal for the child while leaving communities stunned.

Ukwai faced two counts under Section 3(1)(a) and punishable under Section 4(1)(bb) of the Sexual Offences Act 2013.
