On Tuesday, February 4, 2026, at about 8:30 a.m., the suspect allegedly handed the toddler the toxic substance.
Moments later, the boy started vomiting profusely, prompting his frantic mother to rush him to a nearby hospital where prompt medical attention stabilized him.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday, as reported by PUNCH.
'The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 4, 2026, at about 8:30am, when the suspect allegedly gave the victim, identified as Abdulrasheed, a liquid substance suspected to be poisonous,' Jimoh stated.
He added that the act followed a dispute between the complainant and the suspect, who is the complainant’s landlady.
During the investigation, officers recovered the liquid substance suspected to be poison. 'The suspect is currently in police custody and has made useful statements,' the PPRO further revealed.
