Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, OFR, is honoring a dedicated soldier, Staff Sergeant Amoke 'Gunshot' Simeon of the Nigerian Army, who served in Abia State during very challenging times from 2010 to 2014, by sending him abroad for special medical treatment and covering all the costs with state funds.

The governor took this step to help the veteran, who faced serious health problems, after an accident in the North-East, as the man who played a key role in ending the reign of terror by a major kidnapper known as Osisikankwu in the region.
The soldier led the gallant troop that brought justice to the dreaded kidnapping kingpin called "OSISIKANKWU" and his group, who operated and held the entire Abia State captive for a long period until the team acted.

These criminals caused the exodus of many residents out of the state in fear for their safety, affected the city of Aba very badly and paralyzed normal life completely.
The situation was so serious that more than 50,000 residents allegedly fled the area and all the banks in the city had to shut down as a result.
It required a large military raid on the kingpin's base in Ugwuati Forest to finally stop his operations and end the threat.
The Staff Sergeant served in Abia State between 2010 and 2014 tracking kidnappers.
The soldier is said to have refused a bribe of 50 million naira offered by the terror kingpin during his duties in the operation.
Later on Simeon survived a motor accident while serving in the North-East region of the country, causing him to have broken legs and ongoing mobility challenges because the medical care he received at the time was not sufficient to help him fully.
Amoke was visibly emotional about the help and said "I cannot stop thanking Abia State for remembering me through their very good Governor."
