The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has dismantled a chilling child trafficking syndicate masquerading as an orphanage in Saburi, Abuja, rescuing 21 vulnerable children out of 46 allegedly sold through the fake facility.

The breakthrough came after concerned Saburi residents filed a petition on January 29, 2026, to the Office of the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, flagging eerie activities at the so called orphanage.
The command launched a discreet probe, revealing a ruthless scheme where operators lured indigent families from rural areas nationwide with false promises of education and brighter futures in cities.
Instead, the children were handed over to buyers across the country for profit.
FCT Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh detailed the deception in a statement.
'Preliminary investigations revealed that the operators of the orphanage target indigent families in rural communities across the country, obtaining custody of young children under the pretext of providing access to education in urban cities and promising them a better life.
'Instead, the children were trafficked to prospective buyers in various parts of the country through their orphanage.'
'So far, 21 out of 46 children trafficked through the illegal orphanage operation have been rescued. And undergoing procedures to ensure their safe reunification with their biological parents, while efforts continue to locate the remaining victims and apprehend all those connected to the crime,' Adeh added.
She stressed ongoing operations to track down the missing 25 children and arrest every accomplice
