In the wards of Kenyatta National Hospital, a Meru father, named John Kobia, finally laid eyes on his missing son after three agonizing months, turning months of fading hope into an emotional embrace.

The young man, unconscious since a devastating road traffic accident along Thika Road on December 4, 2025, had remained unidentified until a hospital social media appeal on March 2026 sparked the breakthrough.
Good Samaritans had rushed him to the national referral facility, where the staff kept him alive while social workers hunted for clues to his identity.
The patient survived the crash but could not speak or recall details, leaving Kenyatta National Hospital with the heavy responsibility of tracing next of kin.
Kobia from Tigania East in Meru County had searched tirelessly across communities, police stations, and social networks, each day eroding his optimism that his son was still breathing somewhere.
When the hospital's post featuring photographs circulated widely, Kobia recognized the face immediately and made the urgent journey from Meru to Nairobi to confirm with as the reunion unfolded inside the hospital ward when father and son locked eyes.
Tears streamed as they held each other tightly, hospital staff witnessing a scene described as deeply moving and a reminder that care extends beyond medicine.
The moment, captured in the presence of Ms. Catherine Bonareri from the Medical Social Work Department, marked the end of anguish for the family.
Kenyatta National Hospital issued a statement thanking the public for amplifying the appeal.
'Your collective action made this reunion possible,” the hospital noted. “You have helped restore hope to a family.'
The young man continues recuperating well under medical supervision and is now surrounded by family, reports TUKO.
