The family of a student involved in a viral bullying incident at Igbinedion Education Centre in Benin City, Edo State, has issued a public apology after a disturbing video of the attack spread widely across social media.

The footage showed a group of male students kicking and beating a fellow student who was lying on the ground, while another student recorded the assault on a mobile phone.
The video quickly triggered outrage online and renewed calls for stronger action against bullying in Nigerian schools.
In a statement signed by Tim Asoro on behalf of the family, the parents said they were shocked and deeply embarrassed after watching the video involving their son.
They described the moment as heartbreaking and admitted that the behaviour displayed was unacceptable.
The family apologised to the victim, his relatives and the entire school community, stressing that no child deserves such treatment.
They also revealed that they had held serious discussions with their son, who has expressed remorse and now understands the consequences of his actions.
The school has since expelled the students involved in the incident, while authorities launched an investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, Edo State officials have also set up a committee to examine the circumstances surrounding the case.
Although medical reports confirmed that the victim did not suffer serious physical injuries, the family acknowledged that the incident may have caused emotional distress.
