The students and teachers who were abducted by terrorists from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been rescued after spending more than 50 days in captivity.
The victims were kidnapped during the attack on May 15, sparking widespread concern and calls for their safe return.
The development was announced by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post shared on X.
Sharing photographs of the rescued victims, Onanuga wrote:
"Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies."
The successful rescue marks the end of weeks of uncertainty for the victims' families and the affected communities. However, authorities are yet to provide further details on how the operation was carried out or the condition of those rescued.
