APC in deep sorrow over the death of Bisi Akande’s wife

Following the death of the former governor of Osun State, and a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Bisi Akande’s wife, Mrs Omowumi Akande, The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed its sorrow and grief.

The late Omowumi Akande, aged 73, died on Tuesday at the University College Hospital in Ibadan after a brief illness.

According to a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the APC described the late Omowunmi as a humble woman who was committed to charitable initiatives and community development.

While commiserating with Bisi Akande who is an erstwhile governor of Osun state, the party said the First Lady would be missed dearly.

The statement reads: “The All Progressives Congress (APC) commiserates with former Governor Of Osun State and the Party’s former Interim National Chairman, H.E. Chief Bisi Akande (Asiwaju Of Ila Orangun) over the death of his wife and family matriarch, the late Chief (Mrs) Omowunmi Akande who passed on July 11, 2017 at the age of 73.

“At this sorrowful time, the Party extends heartfelt condolences. May the Almighty God grant the late Chief (Mrs) Omowunmi Akande eternal rest and the family the strength to bear this great loss.

“The late Omowunmi was a loyal wife of 51 years, dedicated mother, role model and strong pillar of support during His Excellency’s numerous public assignments as former governor of Osun State; former National Chairman of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and first interim National Chairman of the APC, amongst other public assignments.

“As former First Lady of Osun state, her humility, charitable initiatives and community development efforts endeared her to the people of the state.

“Indeed, the family, government and people of Osun State and indeed our great Party have lost an exemplary woman. We would miss her dearly.”
