Yoruba culture Vs Christianity, secret things many don’t know

Yoruba culture and Christianity seems to be contending, while Christianity is a religion that embraces cultures, it seems Christianity has come to abolish one of the world’s most valued way of life.

I often wonder why Aso oke and Ileke (local beads) are not being worn to church today, most of our valued culture and traditions have been termed fetish.

Why is our age-long amen “Ase” not accepted while praying, our factual saying like “Three people cannot stand in two’s”; “Nobody can stop the day from breaking” and so on have been termed as bad, yet these saying are realities.

Christianity, ignorance and many more things have help sending our precious culture into extinction.

Now what really is the issue, is Yoruba culture really demonic? Of course, not, Yoruba culture is a careful one with great homage to God, although Yoruba believed in the existence of over 400 gods, they worship these gods and attribute most of the cultural aspect to them.

The inability to differentiate between culture, tradition and idolatry has repelled acceptance of our culture in Christianity. We swiftly move to criticize every one of our traditions, tagging it as ungodly.

Now I think we need to understand that culture and tradition differ from idolatry, our culture should be thought and understood, pride should be part of our culture.

Our culture is great, but we need to understand and celebrate it
