Dailyfamily.ng had an exclusive interview with Nigerian Gospel artiste Segun Obe. He spoke about the qualities that stand a woman out for marriage and revealed that a woman that loves God will fear her husband.
Here is the full interview:
Can we meet you?
I am Segun Obe
How long have you been in the music industry?
Over 20 years.
Are you married?
No, not yet.
How do you manage female fans?
For me, I focus on what I do, what you focus on per time is what you become. If you focus on what you do more than any other thing that’s what gets bigger in your life. I have managed to focus on my ministry, I’m not perfect but I try my best to stay away from what will be called controversy. You must put yourself where you want to belong.
How can one identify a woman who is marriageable (wife material)?
She just has to love God, when a woman loves God she will fear her husband because if you love God it means you have the fear of God. When you have the fear of God, there is no problem getting to love the person you call your husband.
A woman who doesn’t love God cannot love anybody else and she has to love herself first, she has to understand who she is. There is a song we sing that says I know who I am, people sing that song but they don’t really make it real in their lives. Just know yourself, Love God, Love yourself; love people and that’s it.
How long do you think a relationship should last before it leads to marriage?
It varies for people but for me I would say once you’ve been with a person for a year or over a year I feel you can start to think of marriage. Some people hide their qualities you never know, they hide under a lot of things like I’m a Christian but when you really get to know them you find out a lot of things that you may not really be pleased with.
For me I just feel that it is important for you to go with the Spirit of God, the Spirit of God will show you what you need to know.
Can you marry someone who is also in the music industry?
I don’t think so; it’s going to be difficult because we are doing the same thing. The pressure will be too much, She’s on stage; I’m on stage, who is going to take care of the children? However, if there is a way we can work it out why not.
Should we expect wedding bells soon?
I don’t know but I will say that marriage is ordained by God and definitely we will make it happen. I don’t like to put a time frame or go deep into it but I want to say that I desire to and God will make it happen.
Thanks, we will be expecting.
