Widow Pleads with Army General for son’s release
A widow in Abia identified as Comfort Enyinna, has cried out to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, for the release of her son, Arthur, who was reportedly arrested by soldiers in Aba, on 14th July 2017, over an unknown offence.
Buratai Enyinna, who is a staff of the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency, ASEPA, was said to have been arrested by soldiers attached to the Army unit at Asa road, Aba, and his whereabout is unknown since his arrest.
Speaking amidst tears to Vanguard the Widow called on the Chief of Army Staff, to order the release of her son, stressing that he is not a criminal.
She said, “I’m appealing to the Chief of Army Staff to order the release of my son wherever he is being held. He is not a criminal. He has been sick, and came home on Thursday and left for work the following day, only to be arrested. “We have visited several Army units in Aba and they told us that he is not with them. I wonder who my son has offended. I plead with the person to pardon him, he is not a criminal. We have also reported his arrest to his office at ASEPA, yet they have not been able to trace his whereabouts.”
As at Press time, efforts to contact the Deputy General Manager, ASEPA, Aba zone, Chief Rowland Nwakanma, proved abortive as he failed to take repeated calls to his mobile number.
When Army Public Relations Officer, 14 Brigade, Ohafia, Abia State, Major Oyegoke Gbadamaosi, was contacted, he also said Enyinna is not in their custody.
