On Thursday, October 28, a female student of Egba Odeda Secondary School in Ogun State’s Odeda Local Government Area was allegedly crushed to death by a hit-and-run car.
The incident occurred about 2:45 p.m. in Beni village, Oko Oloshi, along the Abeokuta-Ibadan expressway, according to Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE).
According to Akinbiyi, the child was struck as she and several classmates were ready to cross the road on their way home from school. The driver of the car did not stop to accept responsibility, according to the spokeswoman, and the child died in a pool of her own blood on the spot.
The corpse of the dead was placed in the mortuary of the Ogun State General Hospital in Odeda, according to Akinbiyi.
