Top 15 Benefits of Drinking Water

-Bisi Adewale

The average adult human body is 50-65% water, averaging around 57-60%. The percentage of water in infants is much higher, typically around 75-78% dropping to 65% by one year of age. Body composition varies according to gender and fitness level because fatty tissue contains less water than lean tissue. If you take water rightly you will eliminate lots of sicknesses. Somebody said, “Don’t medicate; hydrate.” One expert said “Whether you want shinier hair, younger skin, a healthier body (or all the three!), pure, clear water is the world’s best beauty elixir.

These are benefits of drinking clean water:

1. Increases Energy & Relieves Fatigue

Since your brain is mostly water, drinking it helps you think, focus and concentrate better and be more alert. As an added bonus, your energy levels are also boosted!

2. Promotes Weight Loss

3. Flushes Out Toxins

Water gets rid of waste through sweat and urination which reduces the risk of kidney stones and UTI’s (urinary tract infections).

4. Improves Skin Complexion

Water moisturises your skin, keeps it fresh, soft, glowing and smooth and rid it of wrinkles. It’s the best anti-ageing treatment around!

5. Maintains Regularity

It aids in digestion as water is essential to digest your food and prevents constipation.

A water guzzler is less likely to get sick. And who wouldn’t rather desire to feel healthy the majority of the time? Drinking plenty of water helps fight against flu, cancer and other ailments like heart attacks.

7. Natural Headache Remedy

Water helps relieve and prevent headaches (migraines & back pains too!) which are commonly caused by dehydration.

8. Prevents Cramps & Sprains

Proper hydration helps keep joints lubricated and muscles more elastic so joint pain is less likely.

There this refreshing feeling you have when you drink water, which no other liquid can give you. If you drink Coke or any other sugary drinks you immediately feel like taking water.

12) You need water to function properly.

Your brain is 90% water!!!, Your body is about 70% water, the majority of your blood and every cell in your body is composed of water. Therefore, you need water to function properly.

13) It has no side effect

Unlike many other drinks, water has no side effect, has no cholesterol and is just the best for your health. It is a gift from God to Mankind.

14) Relieves Hangover

Drinking water works as a simple yet effective way to get rid of a hangover as well. Being a diuretic, alcohol causes you to pee much more than you take in. Thus, water helps rehydrate the body and speed up recovery.

Buhari: 12 million Nigerian children are afraid of attending school

post-image

According to President Buhari, 12 million children in the country have been traumatized and are frightened to attend  school because of the high prevalence of kidnapping.

On Tuesday, October 26, the President announced this during the launch of the Safe School Programme in Abuja.

The President, who was represented at the ceremony by his Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, also stated that dealing with security concerns in the country has been difficult.

“The incessant attacks on the country’s education system such as kidnapping, abduction of pupils/students, increased activities of insurgence and general insecurity in our schools have exacerbated many factors responsible for the growing number of out-of-school children.

It is disheartening to note that even when the abducted students are released, the trauma of the incidences remains long in their minds; hence the plan to have teachers trained on psycho-social support.

APC: Nigerians still trust us, we will win 2023 elections convincingly

post-image

Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), claims it would “convincingly” win the next gubernatorial election in Anambra and the presidential election in 2023.

John Akpanudoedehe, national secretary of the APC caretaker committee, said on Thursday, October 21 at the inauguration of the state congress appeal committee in Abuja that all members of the APC should see disagreements “within the party as family disputes and should not seek to destroy the platform which helped them in the past.”

“With the huge membership strength we have recorded during the last registration and revalidation exercise, there is no doubt that Nigerians still trust us and that we will win all the upcoming elections convincingly, starting from the governorship elections in Anambra, to Osun, Ekiti, and to the 2023 general election,” he said.

“Therefore, there is a greater need to sustain the trust of our party men and women and indeed all Nigerians.
