The Experience 2017 gospel muscial concert, themed Christ our King was indeed a success after virtually, all activities in Lagos was shut down to accomodate the annual musical concert which played host to a gathering of interdenominational Christians from Christendom all gathered at the mainbowl of Tafawa Balewa square.
This year’s edition of the event which commemorate the 12th time since its commencement officially kicked off at exactly 7 pm yesterday, Friday December 1, with an electrifying baritone from the voice over and a thunderous shout from worshipers which gave room for a great awareness to all residents congregated at the concert ground and to everyone residing on Lagos island.
Rev Victor Adeyemi of Global Harvest church took the opening prayer, a prayer for Lagos and Nigeria which he said with a powered vocal, letting the curtain open for songs ministrations at the concert.
The Lagos Community Gospel Choir (LCGC) ushered worshipers in with indigenous Nigerian praises which was actually what the expectant worshipers were waiting for.
Not too long afterwards the table was turned to renown Nigerian gospel saxophonist, Beejay sax, who thrilled worshipers with his medley entwined in his instrumentals.
Onos wouldn’t wait for the perfect time for worship to flow into the veins of awaiting congregant as she sped up with her hit track ‘Alagbara’
Next, Uk- born Ghanaian artiste Sonnie Badu who would be able to sing nearly all of Nigerian indigenous songs rocked the stage with Yoruba/pidgin songs and one of his favourite, ‘only you can do’. Popular comedian, MC Abbey had just made a fun from the previous unrest in Ikorodu, the Bado issue just after Sonnie Badu’s performace, thereby relating that one should be careful the way he responds to strange names.

In between the charged atmosphere of worship some projects done in some state owned public schools by the host church, House on the Rock was televised on the multimedia screen to congregants and just as the worship was on, the convener, Pastor Paul Adefarasin presented the executive governor of Lagos, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode(who was present at the concert) with a certificate of completion to the projects handled in the course of the year. One of which was the ICT project in over a hundred schools.
Just after the certificate was presented to the state governor, American gospel artiste, Travis Greene introduced his wife. As if that wasn’t enough, he entered into one of Nigeria’s hit chorus Imela, Imela, okaka. ‘Intentional’ followed suit and with his ‘you made a way’.
While ministering, Greene also shared the testimony of the report doctors gave him while his wife had a water break (during pregnancy) but eventually God’s word ruled and she was successfully delivered, with this he reechoed ‘you made a way’.
Still ringing and his comical partner in a space of seven minutes thrilled worshipers to a never dying atmosphere of rib cracking laughter, just after their colleague, the renown Akpororo had made congregants burst into laughter.
The olowo gbogboro crooner himself, Nathaniel Bassey on mounting the stage woke all sleeping worshipers with his ‘Onise iyanu’ track and it was a chorus well known as congregants sang after him. Casting crown followed suit and it was a great excitement for worshipers who wouldn’t miss words for words in the lyrics. Do you remember the hallelujah challenge chorus, ‘hallelujah e’, it nearly broke apart the crowded worshipers who wouldn’t stop jumping in excitement. And Bassey finished with the wing of rejoicing.
Donnie McClurkin wouldn’t forget so soon his host nation as he amazed the excited worshipers with the Yoruba version of There is no one like Jesus, ‘kosi eni kosi eni bi Jesu’.
Nollywood’s Tope Alabi took her turn and her Oorun ohun aye was the first track sang. To take the spirit of worshipers to another level, that ‘Oluwa e tobi’ track.
