The Super Eagles of Nigeria arrived at Cape Verde Ahead of Tuesday’s Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Blue Sharks.
On the official Super Eagles Facebook page on Monday, the player’s and officials’ arrival was disclosed.
“We have arrived, Cape Verde! However, we are currently at the Amilcar Cabral International Airport as we couldn’t land in Sao Vincente where the match will be played because the Cesária Évora Airport had closed.
“We’re still here and will take off from here soon. It’s just an hour’s flight. Thanks for your support always!“
The Eagles will hope to consolidate their position as Group C leaders when they face the Blue Sharks.
Gernot Rohr’s side defeated Liberia 2-0 in their opening group game on Friday thanks to Kelechi Iheanacho’s first-half brace.
Cape Verde was held to a 1-1 draw by the Central African Republic in Douala, Cameroon.
