A Brazilian mother Maira Trevisan has broken a hospital record in Brazil after giving birth to a gigantic baby weighing 12lb 6oz.
According to report, Trevisan gave birth to baby Gabrielly Trevisan Ferreira on September 19 at a hospital in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná.
Confirming the weight of the baby, doctors who were at the hospital said it was the heaviest baby they had ever seen in the maternity unit.
The mother said, “It was a bit of a shock and surprisingly uncomfortable the first day I took her into my arms. I didn’t expect her to be so heavy and so long but now I’m getting used to her.”
“The doctor told me he had never done an ultrasound of a child so big.
“In fact, he underestimated just how big she was going to be. But he correctly predicted she was going to be the largest baby ever born in the unit.
“The nurses haven’t stopped taking pictures with Gabrielly. She’s become a bit of a celebrity because they’ve never seen anything like it.”
The biggest baby ever was ‘Babe’, who was born in 1879 and weighed 22lb. Unfortunately he died 11 hours after being born.
