Senator whose son was killed declares that insecurity must be tackled seriously in Nigeria
Nigeria, according to Na’Allah, is committing a grave error by failing to address the root causes of insecurity.
Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah believes that Nigeria must address the core causes of insecurity in order to properly address its problems.
Captain Abdulkarim Na’Allah, the lawmaker’s son, was strangled to death in his Kaduna home on August 29, 2021.
The 36-year-old pilot’s assassins broke into his house through the roof and stole a Lexus SUV from his parking lot.
On Tuesday, August 31, Senator Na’Allah warned journalists that Nigeria is making a tremendous mistake by not addressing the root causes of insecurity.
“The issue of insecurity in this country is evolutionary. It’s not something that just came up.
“And for us to tackle that issue, we must, first of all, accept the fact that it’s evolutionary,” he said.
The lawmaker said part of the nation’s problems is its failure to take care of the porous borders.
He said the country must stop ‘being lackadaisical’ about a lot of things, and ensure lawbreakers don’t escape justice.
“The cumulative effect is what we’re facing now. If we refuse to admit that, we’ll never clearly find the antidote for insecurity in this country,” he warned.
The federal government has failed to keep the wave of violence that has swept several sections of the country in recent years under control.
Between April and June 2021, about 2,000 citizens were killed in violent incidents around the country, including terror attacks, kidnappings, and gang fights.
