On Saturday the Abakaliki Police told the community of Ezzillo, Ishielu Local Government Site that they rescued a baby girl who had been abandoned for 9 months.
This is included in a statement by DSP Loveth Odah, a state police officer.

Ms Odah said on Friday the child was seen by a farmer and the farmer alerted the police immediately.
“The farmer alerted police operatives at Ishielu Division before she was rescued and handed over to the gender unit of the state’s Police Command,’’ she said.
“Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi, Aliyu Garba, directed that the baby be accorded proper medical attention and taken to a government facility for custody and proper care,’’ she added.
Ms Odah also stated that “Mr Garba assured the public that the police would continue to collaborate with all the relevant agencies and non-governmental bodies to fight against inhuman acts and other social vices.
