Patience Jonathan claims Magu Ask British Government to deny her visa
The wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mrs. Patience Jonathan said Mr. Ibrahim Magu, the Acting Chairman of the EFCC has asked the British Government to deny her a visa.
The former first lady claims that the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission wrote a letter to the British High Commission in Nigeria not to issue her visa.
Granville Abibo (SAN) & Co wrote a petition to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara on behalf of Mrs. Patience Jonathan.
The petition reads thus: “In February 2017, the EFCC through its acting Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, made a spurious report against our client to the United Kingdom authorities and other international bodies – all in a grand design to forestall the renewal of her visa and other travel documents.
“The allegations against our client by the EFCC were duly investigated by the UK authorities and other international bodies who found the reports baseless and thereupon issued the visa and other travel documents to our client.”
However, Patience said she was granted visa by the British Government after the investigation was duly carried out and she was found not wanting.
The former first lady also mentioned that the EFCC, NDLEA and the Nigerian Police have been harassing her and her family members by searching her properties and her family members’ bank accounts. She also claimed that most of her bank accounts have also been frozen.
