23-year-old Aphiwe Mapekula who was accused of slaughtering and eating a woman in Kwabhaca – formerly Mount Frere in South Africa has died on Tuesday morning.
Aphiwe Mapekula was confirmed dead at the Nelson Mandela Central Hospital‚ after he was shot by the police while he tried to resist arrest.
According to information gathered from South Africa’s Herald live, police were said to have arrived at the crime scene on Saturday‚ where Thembisa Masumpa’s beheaded body was found.
Police reported that Mapekula was busy feasting on the remains of his beheaded victim, Masumpa. Mapekula allegedly ignored several shots warning him to leave the crime scene but was eventually shot and wounded in the arm‚ leg and abdomen and yet wouldn’t quit feasting on the woman’s flesh.
Sizwe Kupelo the health department provincial spokesman confirmed his death.
“He was admitted on Saturday after he was transferred from Madzikane Kazulu Hospital in Kwabhaca with gunshot wounds and needed emergency surgery. He, unfortunately, died in the early hours of this morning at about 4.35am.”
