Incredible: 10-year-old boy takes delivery of his breech positioned baby brother

Jayden Fontenot, a 10-year-old boy incredibly took delivery of his baby brother as his mother went into unexpected labour in the bathroom.

Jayden’s mom, Ashly Moreau went into labour when she was supposed to deliver the baby in six weeks, which was the due date she was given. According to KPLC, She was to be due on September 20.

The mother, Ashly unexpectedly went into labour on their bathroom floor on August 11 at their home at Sulphur, Louisiana. She suddenly realized her water broke and she started bleeding profusely.

Adding to her shock was that she looked down and realized that the baby’s feet were sticking out which means the baby was breech and could put the baby in danger.

The doctor later claimed the bleeding occurred because the placenta had detached from the uterine wall.

Ashly’s fiancé, Kelsey Richard had left for work so she had no option than to immediately call on Jayden her 10-year-old son to get his grandmother next door.

The grandmother could only call 9-1-1 because she could not walk after her recent back surgery.

The boy ran back home and asked his mother what he should do, He said, ‘Tell me what I need to do and I’ll do it.

The mother speaking to Today about the event said: “I was crying, but I just tried to stay calm and collected.” “Jayden was so calm that it made me more calm. I could see he was scared, but he knew he had to do it.”

Jayden got down on his knees next to his helpless mother and grabbed his baby brother’s feet that were sticking out. He followed his mother’s instructions and moved the baby out of the breech position by rotating him.

Speaking to KPLC, he said, “I had to pull him by the legs – not hard, gently.”

After delivering the baby, Jayden realized he was not breathing. He rushed down to the kitchen and got a nasal aspirator which he used to pump air into the baby’s nose and mouth.

The baby named Daxx started breathing as the emergency medical technicians arrived with an ambulance which took them all to the hospital.

Doctors said the baby would have never started breathing and his mother may have bled throughout the delivery if Jayden was not there.

 

Ashly while speaking to Today, mentioned: “Every time I think about it, I just cry. I don’t think Jayden understands what he’s done and how big it is.”

She added: “I said to Jayden, “You’ll always have a special bond with your brother.” I’m just so proud of him. He saved our lives.”
