How to clean the microwave: step by step and tricks that will make the difference

Indispensable in most residences, the microwave is a great ally when it comes to heating foods or drinks and even when preparing some of them!

However, like other electronics, the microwave requires some special care so that it really delivers well and has a good shelf life. It is worth remembering: keeping it clean goes far beyond the aesthetic question.

Rose Moraes, personal organizer at Kiiro Organizes and Simplifies, points out that the microwave oven needs to be cleaned periodically so that food and fat remains do not contaminate other foods and so that the dirt does not become increasingly difficult To be removed.

Do you have a microwave in the house? Do you know how to clean it well, using the right products and without great efforts? Do you know what type of product and/or utensil can not be used in this electronic device? If not, you’ll love the guidelines below!

With vinegar

White alcohol vinegar combined with water brings great help in this task. The steam from the vinegar solution causes any more difficult dirt to soften and also kills the germs.

Step by step

Take a small glass refractory and pour 3 tablespoons of white alcohol vinegar to 200 ml of water.

Place this container in the microwave and set to full power by turning the appliance on for 3 minutes.

When this time is up, you should leave the mixture inside the appliance for another 3 minutes.
Then a clean, damp cloth is enough to remove dirt easily.

With lemon
Another simple ingredient that can be a great ally in cleaning the microwave is lemon. In addition to breaking down the fat molecules, it will leave a refreshing aroma inside the device.

Step by step
Cut 1 lemon into slices and place in a refractory with 200 ml of water.

Place the refractory inside the microwave by turning the appliance on at maximum power for 3 minutes.

Then leave this mixture inside the appliance for another 3 minutes.

Finally, wipe the dirt with a clean, damp cloth, which will be easy to remove.

With baking soda
Rose explains that bicarbonate can also (and should) be used in cleaning, since it has antibacterial action and does not hinder household appliances. “The result is even better when it’s mixed with white alcohol vinegar,” he says.

Step by step

Take 1 tablespoon of baking soda, 1 tablespoon of white alcohol vinegar and 1 small lemon sliced. Put everything in a glass container (which can be brought to the microwave) with 300 ml of water, and let it warm for 5 minutes.

Leave to rest for another 3 minutes inside the appliance, so that the steam helps to soften the dirt.

Then wipe the dirt with a clean, damp cloth, which will be easy to remove.

“Remember never to cover the container that goes in the microwave, because the steam of the expanding water can cause an explosion,” says Rose.
