FRSC officials assist pregnant woman to deliver baby girl on transit

A few officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Ogun State Command, have assisted a woman identified as Ajoke Ahmed as she delivered her baby girl on transit along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday, 5th October 2017.

The Command’s Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe, spoke to PREMIUM TIMES that the pregnant woman was on a commercial bus with other passengers when she went into labour.

She confirmed that the Command got to know about the development through the driver of the vehicle with registration number XF 365 MKD who drove into the Command’s premises to inform the Corps.

Ms. Okpe further explained that the expectant mother was examined by a ‎team at the Sagamu Accident and Emergency Clinic immediately. She added that an ambulance was prepared to move the woman to the nearest hospital as the clinic was not equipped to take delivery.

Ms Okpe revealed: “Within this process, the pregnant woman gave birth to a baby girl at about 1215hrs inside the Command’s Clinic.”

She said a medical examination carried out by the medical doctor confirmed the mother and the newborn baby were in good condition.

She also mentioned that the families of the new mother had been contacted.
