Having a winning family is not a tea party as many thinks. There are enemies standing against it.
The greatest problem is not having enemies but identifying them. When the identity of an enemy is known, it becomes easier to deal with it.
1.Ignorance:
Ignorance is the number enemy of a winning family. What you don’t know is capable of causing you pain. Lack of understanding of what marriage is, what marriage is not, husband management, wife management, in-law’s management, financial management, bedroom management is the greatest enemy of family life. To overcome ignorance, get adequate knowledge about family life by reading marriage books, attend marriage seminars, couples programmes, get a CD and DVD of family life.
The greatest of all is ignorance of God: Any family where any or both parties have no relationship with God is home surrendered to trouble and satanic attacks. A home without Christ is a home full of crisis and chaos. Surrender your life to Jesus and handover your family into His hands.
2.Permissiveness:
There are rules and boundaries which every successful family must follow. Failure to adhere to these rules will spell doom on the marriage. Permissiveness is what many crave for in modern-day marriage and that account for why we have so many broken homes. Permissiveness is a state of lawlessness, anything goes! Ungodly practices like Pornography, masturbation, extra-marital affairs, no-headship syndrome and all form of disorderliness. With such a trend, the family will crash beyond recognition.
3.Unresolved Disagreement:
In a relationship between two people, disagreement is bound to happen but it must be addressed almost immediately. If left unattended to for too long, it may lead to conflict, strife, bitterness, murderous thoughts, murder or divorce. Situations like this open the door for the satanic attack on a family without stress.
Let go of all offence and bitterness, be a generous forgiver.
4.Selfishness:
Most couples find themselves in turbulent marriage today due to selfishness. Many selfish people are in marriage today who only thinks about their own money, clothes, shoes, goals, vision and comfort without concern for their spouse’s well-being. Their vocabulary is I, Mine, Me and myself.
Marriage doesn’t succeed in selfishness, it is a team work, develop team-mindedness.
5.Busyness:
The rat race of modern day lives is a major threat to the survival of family life. The desire to reach the peak of career, to increase earnings through overtime, weekend lectures for professional exams, business meetings and business trips break family ties and eliminate family time, deprive children of having quality time with their parents, distance husband from wife and destroy intimacy and bonding. Create time for your family, learn how to balance your relationship between your job and your family.
6.Lack of Leaving And Cleaving:
Leaving and cleaving is a divine instruction. Where there is no leaving, there cannot be cleaving. If marriage must succeed, husband and wife must leave their parents and cleave to their spouse. None of them must be close to their parents or siblings than their spouse. Couples must not permit any of their parents, siblings or relations dictates the pace in their matrimony. You must not report your spouse to any of them. If you need counsel, get godly counsel from your Pastor or a marriage counsellor. You need to leave your parents emotionally, physically, vocationally and financially.
7.Not Following Divine Order:
It is a divine order that the husband should love his wife and that wife should submit to her husband. Failure to follow this divine order has led to the collapse of many homes. If the wife cannot submit and the husband fails to love it will lead to disorderliness in the family. Husbands, love your wife unconditionally, even if her stature increased beyond your desire. Wives, submit to your husbands regardless of your academic qualifications or position at work. Accept your husband as your head lest he becomes your headache.
8.Prayerlessness:
Marriages crash today at an alarming rate because many couples fail to pray for their marriage and with their spouse regularly.
A good marriage is a threat to the satanic agenda. So, he fights against the prayer life of couples, fights marriages through anger, malice, stubbornness, domestic violence, murder, infidelity, barrenness, insubordination, pride, hatred, infant mortality, miscarriages, joblessness, among others. All these cannot be addressed with human wisdom alone, you need a supernatural force to conquer and this force can only be activated through constant prayers in a family. Where couples fail to pray, the devil will operate unchecked.
