A tricycle (Keke Maruwa) driver and his four passengers have been arrested for an alleged disagreement over transport fare on Thursday.

Eyewitness reports gathered that the driver whose usual route was said to be Ikeja-Allen-Opebi had charged a high transport fare of N150 instead of the usual N100 which instigated different reactions from his passengers.

One of the passengers reportedly claimed that the change in transport fare was not made known to them before they departed the loading base and insisted on the usual transport fare of N100. This did not go down well with the driver.

With the collective agreement of the four passengers never to pay N150, the driver angrily threatened to beat up a woman who happened to be one of the passengers. The noise from the argument that ensued afterwards drew the attention of some police officers to the scene.

While all efforts were made to settle the matter between the driver and his passengers, the bitter parties were not willing to shift their grounds as the driver was determined to collect his transport fare.

The police officers, therefore, arrested the driver and the four passengers and took them to Police Station in Computer Village, Ikeja.
