Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, or Starboy, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is one of Africa’s biggest artists and the most decorated in Nigeria.

Wizkid has created a community of loyal fans for himself; he is no doubt one of the major influencers in Africa. He is one of the very few hardworking Nigerian musicians in the industry today.

 Let’s look at some facts about Wizkid, you probably didn’t know.

1- Born on July 16, 1990, in Lagos State and is from a family of six.

2- He began singing at eleven years old under the stage name Lil Prinz.

3- His first collection was with the Glorious 5 and it sold 10,000 duplicates.

4- He had his first historically speaking chronicle with OJB Jezreel at 11.

5- At 15 years old, he was melody composing and accepting direction from Naeto C.

6- In 2006, he changed his name from Lil Prinz to Wizkid.

7- Before rising to fame, Wizkid was fortunate enough to have run into popular musicians like 2Face, Idibia, Naeto C, Sound Sultan.

8- He broke into the spotlight in 2009 when he featured M.I Abaga’s, “Quick Cars”.

9- His break out single is “Holla At Your Boy” that was released in 2010.

10- In 2011, the performer had his first child, Boluwatife.

11- He has 4 children with 4 different women

12- He bought his first car in 2011. A dark Honda Accord I-VTEC.

13- In 2011, he dropped out of Lead City University in his third year. He wanted to focus on his music.

14- His first album was in 2011 with E.M.E named, ‘Hotshot’. The collection had 17 tracks.

15- In April 2012, E.M.E marked a joint arrangement on Wizkid with Akon’s Konvict.

16- He started his own Record Label, Star Boy.

17- Wizkid’s first International Collaboration was with Akon on Don’t Dull (Remix).

18- He was said to have N300million Champagne at his 23rd Birthday.

19- FeeBuzz.com reported that his hit track, “Azonto” was the third non-American tunes of 2013.

20- He is the most youthful African artiste to get a Grammy nomination.

21- Wizkid is the primary African pop star to perform/sell-out Royal Albert Hall in London.

22- He is the Nigerian artiste with the most honor designations in Nigeria.

23- He is the principal African to have seven Billboard songs

24- He is the main Nigerian artiste to win three Billboard grants.

25- Wizkid is the principal afro-pop artiste to show up in the Guinness Book of World Records.

26- He is the primary Nigerian artiste to win honor from the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

27- On account of his cooperation on “One Dance” a track he was highlighted on by Canadian rapper, Drake, Wizkid is the main Nigerian artiste to keep up the main spot on iTunes World Chart for over multi-week.

28- Wizkid’s “Come Closer” on which he included Drake got up to a million views on youtube. His video hit the million imprints inside the initial 24 hours of its discharge. He broke his own record with the music video for “Fever”. The video highlights Nigerian hotshot, Tiwa Savage who plays his adoration intrigue.

29- The legislative leader of Minnesota, Mark Brandt Dayton regarded the artist, by naming a day after him in the US.

30- In a meeting with Alex Frank of Vogue magazine in February 2015, Wizkid said he wears a blend of streetwear and customary Nigerian garments. He referred to Pharrell Williams as one of his Fashion Icons.

President Muhammadu Buhari opened a two-day mid-term ministerial performance review retreat in Abuja on Monday, amid reports that more of his ministers will be sacked for poor performance.

The yearly retreat, which is attended by Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, and other top government officials, is held to evaluate the administration’s top functionaries’ performance.

President Buhari announced the dismissal of two of his ministers during the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on September 1.

Insecurity: CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele releases shocking statement on Nigeria’s Economy
