Pope Francis has been given a brand new personalized, white supercar by Lamborghini but he has resolved to auction it to raise fund for Italian charities working with women and children in countries in Africa.

The pope received the officials from Lamborghini on Wednesday morning when an Italian supercar was presented to him in a short ceremony in Vatican City.

Just as his custom has always been, he blessed it, signed its hood, and immediately handed it over to Sotheby (an auction firm based in New York), so that it will be auctioned off on his behalf.

Expert auto valuers who examined the special-edition sports car, concluded that the car boasts of a 610 metric horsepower, is expected to be sold for more  than its Italian retail price of around €200,000.

AP reports that the pope has requested, the money to be channeled towards helping displaced Christians in Iraq, victims of trafficking and prostitution, and Italian charities working with women and children in countries in Africa.

In the year, 2016 Pope likewise ordered cars he used while on visit to Poland to be auctioned off to help Syrian refugees.
